Rosemary
Rosemary is an herb that was used even in the ancient pharmacies, e.g. for migraine or exhaustion. It also stimulates the appetite and helps the digestion, just to mention a few benefits of this plant. The Romans used the rosemary as a symbol for love and death, but apparently they used it only in wine apart from the traditional medicines - it was not used for cooking. It seems like this typical Mediterranean herb entered the kitchens during the 13th or 14th Century. In Italy rosemary is often used to give aroma to roast meat, sauces, potato dishes, vegetable tarts, bread and in olive oil. The herb can be used both fresh and dried.
